When you’ve ever felt like your head is filled with cotton—or sea shells or dryer lint—effectively, you’re not alone. For the higher a part of a decade, Chicago-based artists Edwige Massart and Xavier Wynn (beforehand) have been creating sliced sculptural skulls filled with all the pieces from yarn and river rocks to crayon ideas, shattered automotive home windows, circuit boards, and sleeping drugs. The occupied minds are a part of the continued collection Heads, which distills the complexities of relationships into dense, topographical psyches.
Working as EMXW, the duo begins every bit with a mishmash of discovered objects that collectively, create a story or “subject of dialog.” They every create concurrently, including crimson LEGO for enamel or shaping a jawbone with the damaged deal with of a cup to render a thematic assortment that pertains to an imagined dialogue between the 2.
