Flowers in gold luster and cobalt, small portraits of legendary creatures with feathers and polka dots, and numerous geometric motifs embellish Vipoo Srivilasa’s porcelain figures, which have a good time abundance and pleasure by means of opulent particulars. On view now at Edwina Corlette within the artist’s solo present Solitude and Connection, the sculptures are otherworldly in kind as they meld human anatomy with wildlife, exploring “the varied methods by which love takes form.”

Born and raised in Thailand and now based mostly in Melbourne, Srivilasa usually explores how these two cultures overlap and diverge and what it means to occupy the house in between.
