Supple textures meet daring hues in Sangmin Oh’s elegant Knitted Mild collection. Drawn to relationships between sculptural varieties, textile strategies, and architectural components, the Netherlands and Korea-based artist developed a set of soppy lamps designed to droop from the ceiling or sit on chunky, rough-hewn pedestals.

Oh based Osangmin Studio in 2021, which “focuses on observing trivial and small empty areas” just like the corners of rooms or nondescript alcoves that may be elevated with the addition of shade, form, and illumination. The Knitted Mild collection takes inspiration from the range of sea life and coral, evoking scaled tendrils or slim funnels. The fixtures usually seem to drift at nighttime as they rework from standalone objects into glowing, purposeful installations.
