Florentijn Hofman’s ‘Double Geese’ Set Sail in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour — Colossal

Vying to be the world’s largest bathtub toy is a recreation that two can play. Ten years after his monumental rubber duck sailed by Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman marks the event with Double Geese. The an identical inflatable artworks sit side-by-side within the waterway, designed to be hitched to tugboats and escorted in all of their sunny splendor, foregrounding the well-known panoramic views of the town’s skyline.

Identified for his playful, monumental installations, Hofman approached the undertaking as a celebration of friendship and pleasure. The pair characterize unity and togetherness, drawing on the symbolism of the symmetrical Chinese language characters “囍” (happiness) and “朋” (associates). “Because of COVID we realized that spending time collectively is so invaluable,” Hofman says in an announcement. “Making moments and recollections for actual, dwelling within the right here and now, are issues to cling on to… ‘Double Geese’ just isn’t about wanting into the previous however having fun with the second collectively!”

Hofman collaborated with with inventive model AllRightsReserved to facilitate the floating sculptures along with dozens of installations and interactive actions all through the town.
